April Showers

Enjoying a rainy spring day today.  I love a good rainy day. It’s second only to a really rocking summer thunderstorm at night.  Though most of this week is supposed to be rain and THAT is not going to be conducive to getting outside in my yard and getting my garden up and going.

I have set a reading goal for myself, a Goodreads.com challenge to read 50 books this year.  Quite an endeavor to some standards and yet quite meager by others.  We’ll see how that one goes as I’m already 7 books behind schedule.  I need some short picture books!

From the Stacks:

Currently I’m reading two books though one is not a novel so I can manage both at once.  I’m nearly finished with The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd which I like however, it is not what I expected it to be.  I really liked The Secret Life of Bees by this author so I decided to give this a try.

Today I received my first approval on Net Galley to read an advanced copy of a novel from a publisher. Super exciting!  I’m sure eventually that thrill will wane but for now I’m happy about it.

I’m looking forward to the potentially rainy week only for the mere fact it’s an excuse to stay on the sofa with a cup of tea, my kitties and plow through some books.
