It’s Hump Day… 2 comments

Happy Hump Day!  I can never decide if I think that expression is cute or vulgar.  But I love that commercial with the camel from Geico – congrats to the marketing department on that one. If you haven’t ever seen it – click the image.

This week has been faster than last week, I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday!  A few things going on…

First I got my first citrus tree!  I hope to have three eventually, but this is my first little lime tree.  I have high hopes for it.  We are fortunate to have summer weather that’s great for these tropicalish type plants however, winters prove problematic.  So I have to plan ahead as this guy will eventually end up in my garage over winter.  I also got those few remaining herbs planted out and they are enjoying our cool and rainy weather as they settle in.

Another bit of news is our Giveaway ended on Monday night!  Our lucky Twitter follower, Tyneisha  @LuvMyHubz was our winner!  Thanks to all who participated – I’ll be excited to do another in the future.

In Book News:

I can finally say that I wrapped up All Is Not Forgotten and Girl on The Train.  I’m happy to be moving on in my stack this week.  I can say that I liked Girl on The Train well enough to be looking forward to the movie release this fall, however all they hype caused this one to fall flat for me.  I just didn’t love it.  All Is Not Forgotten will be out in stores in July and it was really great.  One you should put on your pre-order list,  I’ll have a wrap up or it on Friday.

Latest Review:

This past Tuesday was Pub Day for I Let You Go.  It was an amazing read!  Here is my review:

I Let You Go will grab hold of you from the very opening sentence and leave you slack jawed.

Clare Mackintosh has delivered an excellent example of the thriller genre in her debut novel. I Let You Go opens up with a tragic accident that leaves a small boy dead and moves with sheer force until the very end.  We follow the investigation of the accident and ensuing hunt for the hit and run driver through rotating narrators each giving a unique perspective on the events.

The reader will be dumbfounded on more than one occasion with the twists of the plot and unfolding aftermath of events.

Clare has created a cast of characters that reach into your heart and squeeze as you share in their tremendous heartache and, inevitably, redemption.  These are the types of characters that you want to get to know. They are complex and you become so engrossed in their story that you forget they are fiction.

The story is all in the surprises in this one.  Any bit of a reveal feels like a betrayal to the author so I will simply state that it was an excellent and compelling read.  Fabulously written, this is one of those books that everyone will be talking about.

I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
