What’s Going On…
We celebrated with family at a party on Christmas Eve. Then the hubs and I had a nice quiet Christmas morning at home with the sassycat crew. Christmas night we ventured to my moms house for dinner and gifts. This is her tree this year 🙂
My baking was minimal this year but the peppermint cupcakes turned out well. It’s hard to make mint frosting without getting a toothpaste effect. Less is definitely more.
The last few days have been spent cleaning up and lounging around the house. My goal is to get some book reviews done and turned in by January 1. I’d really like to start the year off with a clean slate. I’ve got a new planner coming to help me keep better organized and hopefully it will help! My New Year’s Resolution is definitely book related. I’m determined to stay caught up and be more timely getting reviews done! Cross your fingers.
Today I’m making use of one of my awesome Christmas gifts! My mom got me a huge set of Plant Therapy essential oils! My aunt gifted me a nice box to keep them all organized. Are you seeing a theme that I need organizational help? So I’m battling round two of sinus crud and I’ve got my diffuser on my desk set up with a blend of eucalyptus, spearmint and lavender. It’s lovely.
I was blessed with a very LUSH Christmas this year! I received so many bath bombs and bubble bars and lotions. It’s fabulous!! So of course I still had to get in on the Boxing Day sale and now I have even more coming. Another theme – between the essential oils and Lush it was a very fragrant holiday.
From Christmas to Valentines Day is pretty busy for my family. There is always some sort of celebration with all the goodies. We have several birthdays in that time and when we get through the last one nobody wants to look at another cake or wrap another gift. Actually, we’ve all started to go really low key in the past few years which is nice in some ways.
New Years Eve is next up and none of us are real big night out fans on that day. Too many crazy people out! Some years we go to dinner – most years we all just kind of hang at home. With several of us either sick or having just been sick, I doubt this year will be a big deal. Chinese food and beer sounds just fine to me.
Here are a few pics from our holiday –
