What’s Going On…
Hey all it’s Wednesday! For some reason it’s been kind of a wonky week so far. I’ve just felt a little off all week – I guess that happens to the best of us.
The weather has been playing hot and cold. There were a few nice days in which I was able to get out and read some and more importantly, to weed the back yard! But now it’s too chilly so those nice days were really just a tease. Soon.
I went yesterday to see Beauty and the Beast. If you haven’t yet and you had any sort of childhood that included the Disney animation then you must go see it.
I never care for remakes – they almost never turn out well. But this one was done right! The movie really adheres to the animated version and they did a bang up job with the conversion to real actors. It was a magical afternoon at the movies.
I had the soundtrack playing last week – I got it on c.d. for Christmas when I was in Sixth grade. I was surprised how much I remembered – so much fun.
In other news – THIS came today!! I was super excited. Monopoly is not my most favorite game of all time but I do like to play once in awhile. We’ve had various versions over the years. I bought this one because…Cats. You can get a copy at Amazon.
Now for the second section of todays post: a TAG post! I almost never do these but I enjoy reading them – so I figured maybe I’ll start participating. This is the Reader Confession tag and I spied this over at Drizzle and Hurricane Books.
Have you ever damaged a book?
Nothing really comes to mind at the moment so there hasn’t been a tragic accident. But I’m sure I’ve damaged a book or two in my day.
Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
I don’t really borrow books! I’m usually the lender of books! But if I were to borrow a book then I would be extra careful with it for the simple fact that it isn’t mine to keep.
How long does it take you to read a book?
I read an average book of around 400 pages in about 3 days. My Kindle Voyage seems to give me an average of 8ish hours per book depending on length.
Books that you haven’t finished?
Very few. I never DNF books. I have read many that I should have given up on but just can’t do it! The last book I actually did not finish was over a year ago! It was The Rippers Wife by Brandy Purdy.
Hyped/ Popular books you didn’t like?
I could NOT get into The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I had this on audio book and I just didn’t enjoy it. I, however, thought the movie was great!
Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?
Probably not. I can see how people get anxious about reading heavy romance novels or some types of self -help books. People rip covers off or put book covers on these if they are reading in public places. I think any reading is good for your spirit and mind so I think people should never be embarrassed about what they choose to read. To each their own.
How many books do you own?
This is where the confession part of this tag comes in! I own very few books. That wasn’t always the case but when we were packing to move over a year ago I re-homed a lot of my books. If you don’t count my TBR pile, I can honestly say I own less than 20 books and it’s probably about half that in reality.
Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?
I always feel like I’m a slow reader! I’ve done a few online tests for reading speed and I’m right in the middle of average for speed and I always place high in comprehension.
Do you like to buddy read?
I’ve only read one or two books as a buddy read. One was Dr. Zhivago several years ago. A friend and I had great aspirations of reading all this classic literature together but it never materialized. I think the two we actually read together was enough for both of us! I totally would do another buddy read though!
Do you read better in your head or out loud?
I read in my head. I’m not bad at reading out loud, I just don’t.
If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?
I hate questions like these! The classic you could take 3 things to a remote island. If I could only OWN one book – I have no idea. This is a different question from you could only READ one book…of which I still have no idea.
How long does it take you to read one book? Do you buddy read? Let me know your answers in comments!
Thanks for playing along today!
