What’s Going On…
Wow so Monday totally vanished on me this week! All day I was thinking “man I need to get a post up” but well…I didn’t quite get there. So today you are blessed with a Tuesday post! Lucky you.
What’s new this week? Well let’s see… I ordered myself some cute new bands for my Fitbit! One is a pretty blue leather and one is kitty paw prints! You KNOW I couldn’t resist that when I ran across it on Amazon.
I managed to do some errands yesterday – the goal was grocery shopping. I also had to drop off a donation to our local SPCA and I managed to get myself into some trouble. I should have walked in with blinders on – I know better! I saw this amazing boy and I fell in love with him instantly. I knew I shouldn’t have asked to play with him but I couldn’t resist his adorableness. No, I did not come home with a new furry baby, four is all I can truly handle. Had I not feared that the hubs was changing the locks as I was visiting with the kitty I would have snapped him up!
Books!! I finally started a new book after about a week of no reading. I settled on Love and Other Consolation Prizes by Jamie Ford. I’m about half way through it and I am really enjoying it. It’s a fiction piece based on a true event in 1909 but I’m not sure I consider it Historical Fiction.
The premise of the story is based on a true event that took place in 1909 at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in Seattle, WA – sort of a World’s Fair. At the AYP Expo a real infant, named Earnest, was raffled off as a prize but no one ever claimed the winning ticket. Jamie Ford’s book is based on this boy Earnest and what his life could have been. The narration goes back and fourth between the early 1900’s with Earnest as a boy and then in around the 1960’s with Earnest as a grown man. It’s a very unique story and I’m really captivated by it.
Coming up this week I’ll have a fun tag post for you for Halloween! Stay Tuned…
