What’s going on…
Happy April! It’s spring break – it’s SPRING! Spring is my favorite season. I know there are a lot autumn lovers out there and I too like the refreshing cool temps after a long, hot summer. BUT…spring is my favorite time of year. We are finally freed from the indoors and let loose into warm breezes, decadent afternoon sunshine and the fresh colorful blooms of early flowers.
I spent a few hours on Saturday and several more on Sunday afternoon taking advantage of some warm weather and got to weeding out the back yard. I told the hubs that I may not be able to resist starting on the back yard planting and front yard overhaul. I apologized in advance for spending money that I didn’t intend to spend this year. I know me. Every year we have an “OOPS! How did THAT happen trip to the garden centers”. I cannot resist all those rows of new plants begging to come home with me.
The new windows and doors are in and I love them! We chose a small local husband and wife company and I’m so happy with them. I’m also happy they are done!
Back to the bathroom project! The hubby is feeling better and he’s back to working on our remodel. Lowes is quickly becoming my home away from home. I could be a tour guide.
I have spent a lot of quality time in the plumbing aisles. It’s boring! Give me the paint aisle or garden center any day over tiny plastic tubes and brass connectors. Alas, this is where I’ve been spending my time along with the indoor lumber yard.
Books! I’m happy to say I’m only 8 books behind schedule. I’m trying to keep the carnage to a minimum and keep myself no more than 10 books off track. Hopefully I can make it up over the summer.
My latest read was After Anna by Lisa Scottoline. I know several fellow book bloggers have read and really enjoyed this one. It publishes April 10th from St. Martins Press.
I’m on the fence about this book. Overall I gave it three stars. I really liked the story line and the writing. The characters were interesting. I was reading this one and really loving it – right up until the end. I did not love the ending – at all! It kind of went out on a bad note for me. It got messy and felt like throwing everything but the kitchen sink into the end. There were new characters and a “twist” that felt too overdone to me. I which it had been more streamlined and simple instead of last minute complicated and rushed. Overall, it was a decent read in the mystery category.
I have no idea what will be next off my towering TBR pile. I have many options and some that sound really good. I’m pretty sure I’ll be picking up one of these two next. Both are historical fiction which I’m really in the mood for. Ariel Lawhorn is an author I’ve read and really enjoyed before. Elizabeth Blackwell is a new author for me. I can’t decide!!!
Hope you all have a great week!
