What’s going on..
I’m sure many of you are surprised to see a blog post today – honestly, me too! I think I’ve forgotten how to blog. It’s been so long and I’ve missed you. I’ve been so damn busy and too mentally exhausted to return to the swing of things. I have been reading a little, which is good.
Hopefully I’ll get my act together enough in the next few weeks to get some reviews up. I’ve got some good ones to tell you all about! Most importantly is the forthcoming book by Lisa Unger, Under My Skin. You know I love Lisa Unger, and this one will publish in October. It was really good and I read it in two sittings. I believe it is available for pre-order.
The second book I want to mention is Sandi Ward’s second novel, Something Worth Saving. Sandi and I connected awhile back through social media and I was blessed to have her send me one of the very first ARC’s of her new book. If you haven’t read The Astonishing Thing, I must tell you that you’re missing out on a really great read. It was an easy read domestic mystery, starring a cat named Boo, who was simply too cute for words.
Something Worth Saving is similar in tone and subject. It brings us a new family and a new cat, Lily, who is trying to figure out what is going on with her family. Lily has discovered that someone is hurting her youngest human sibling, now she is on a mission to find out who – and stop them. This one comes out in December.
So, on to what’s been going on with me. Too much, to put it mildly. I’ve been trudging through the query trenches with my book. It’s exciting and mind-numbing all at the same time. Is that even possible? Yes, yes it is. I’m so excited about my book and I can’t wait until the world gets to see it. The search for an agent continues, but I’ve had some good feedback, and have a few people looking at my proposal (nerdy book talk) and full manuscript. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
I’m also still working myself to death on the bathroom remodel. It’s so close, yet so far from being done. I’m in the last steps of drywall – which is hell. I hate drywall finishing! It’s messy and it takes forever. I’m really hoping to be able to start painting in the next few days. At least that will feel like major progress. I’m super anxious about putting up that tile though! I’ve chosen a huge project for my first attempt and I think I’m insane.
The good news is that we are going on vacation in a few weeks! YEA! A whole week down in the Outer Banks to sit on the beach and READ all day long. As much as I hate leaving the Sassy Cat Crew, they will be in fabulous hands while I’m away. Our pet sitter is amazing and will give them lots of love.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
